Sulfasalazine is given by mouth and is used off label to treat inflammatory large bowel disease and vasculitis. Give as directed by your veterinarian. Side effects include dry eye, decreased appetite, vomiting, yellowing of the skin, eyes, or body fluids. Do not use in pets that are allergic to it or other sulfonamides or salicylates, or in Doberman Pinschers, Miniature Schnauzers, or Samoyeds, or in pets with dry eye/KCS, intestinal or urinary blockages, or severe dehydration. Sulfur, precipitated, topical (brand name Sulfodene®, others), is a medication used in the treatment of seborrheic (dry or greasy dandruff) disorders in cats and dogs to dissolve skin flakes and scales. It can have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic effects. It may be specially compounded and/or combined into a formulation with other medications.

Tacrolimus ophthalmic is applied to the eye and is used off label to treat KCS (dry eye) and other immune-mediated and inflammatory conditions of the eye. Give as directed. Side effects are not common but may include irritation, eyelid twitches, or hair loss around the eye. Do not use in pets that are allergic to it or have a viral or fungal infection in the eye. Tacrolimus topical is an immunosuppressive agent used to treat and control inflammation and itching of the skin caused by immune-mediated disorders and allergic skin conditions in cats and dogs. Tacrolimus topical comes in an ointment that is applied directly onto the skin.

Tafluprost ophthalmic is a topical medication used to reduce intraocular pressure (pressure within the eye) in dogs with glaucoma. This medication is used off label in veterinary medicine. Tafluprost ophthalmic comes in liquid drop suspension form.

Tamsulosin is a medication used as a lower urinary tract relaxant to treat functional urinary obstructions in cats and dogs. It has also been used to treat small obstructive urinary stones in cats. Tamsulosin comes in capsule form; capsules should not be crushed or compounded into liquid.

Taurine is given by mouth in the form of a capsule, tablet, powder, or liquid and is used as an over the counter nutritional supplement to treat taurine deficiency, dilated cardiomyopathy, and prevent retinal degeneration. Give as directed by your veterinarian. Side effects are rare but may include vomiting. There are no known contraindications to using this supplement. Terbinafine oral tablets or granules are commonly used off label to treat skin or systemic fungal infections in dogs and cats. Common side effects are primarily gastrointestinal, such as vomiting, inappetence, and diarrhea, and should be used with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease. If treating with this medication long-term, your veterinarian will perform periodic blood tests to check liver function and monitor for any changes or elevations.
