Medications & Supplements

  • Ursodiol is given by mouth and is used off label to treat gallbladder and biliary liver diseases in dogs, cats, horses, and birds. Give as directed by your veterinarian.

  • Veggiedent® is a brand of oral hygiene chews for dogs. Oral hygiene chews are often recommended by veterinarians to help prevent or delay the formation of dental plaque and calculus build-up on your pet’s teeth. Veggiedent® can be given by mouth once daily or as directed by your veterinarian.

  • Velagliflozin (brand name Senvelgo®) is an oral glycemic control medication used in cats with diabetes mellitus. It is used to lower blood sugar levels in cats with diabetes mellitus not previously treated with insulin. Velagliflozin comes in liquid suspension form.

  • Vitamin B complex injectable is a solution containing multiple forms of Vitamin B, which are used together to prevent or treat Vitamin B deficiencies. These vitamins promote good overall health for your pet and regulate certain processes in the body. Vitamin B complex injectable comes as a solution for injection either under the skin or into the muscle.

  • Vitamin C injectable is a vitamin supplement used as an antioxidant to help treat certain toxicity syndromes or to create a more acidic urine in dogs and cats. It is also used in guinea pigs to treat scurvy. Vitamin C injectable comes as a solution for injection either under the skin or into the muscle. Injections may be given by veterinary personnel or at home by pet owners.

  • Vitamin E and selenium are essential nutrients with antioxidant properties that work together to prevent oxidative damage and support the immune system. They are used in animals to treat skin diseases, liver disease, cognitive dysfunction, and dietary deficiencies.

  • Voriconazole is given by mouth or injection and is used off label to treat fungal infections in dogs, cats, horses, birds, and reptiles. Side effects are not well-known but may include vomiting, diarrhea, or decreased appetite.

  • Compounded medications are not approved by federal authorities. They are medications that have been altered to provide more accurate dosing or easier administration. They have not been tested for safety, stability, potency, or efficacy.

  • Wheat gluten + monosodium glutamate (brand name For-Bid) is a food additive commonly used to deter coprophagy (eating stool). Give as directed by your veterinarian. Side effects have not been reported. Do not use concurrently with steroids. If a negative reaction occurs, please call your veterinary clinic.

  • White willow bark is given by mouth and is used over the counter to treat pain and inflammation in cats and dogs. Give as directed by your veterinarian. Side effects may include stomach upset and skin rash. Do not use in pets that are allergic to it or aspirin, or in pets that are pregnant, nursing, or very young. It should be used cautiously in pets with certain medical conditions. If a negative reaction occurs, please call your veterinary office.
